Hi, we started this forum upon the inspiration of this wonderful blog entry my Mr Vilo: theomelettestation.com/2015/09/20/i-saw-what-you-did-there-alden-richards/This was the first time I encountered AlDub fans who were very discerning viewers, and proceeded with a civil discussion by sharing their thoughts about the show, what they think is the real score between Alden and Maine, and as an interestingly pointed out, how the Kalye Serye has become similar to a Truman Show. I hope we can continue the discussion here, in case the constraints of a blog limit or hinder further discussion. In creating this forum, I am hoping to have thoughts and musings about the Kalyeserye more organized and readable.

I saw that post too and commented as well. It's overwhelming to see fans of aldub sharing their thoughts.. And nakakaproud cos u wont see any vulgar comments there. Proves that the fans are well educated. Hindi basta basta.. Maybe we can start by sharing our thoughts on whether Alden/Maine is only for reel (actingan parin ba uy!)? or dyou think it's now somehow real? Here's what I posted on Mr. Vilo's entry: "OMG.. Didnt know someone shares the same thoughts as mine!!! I’m more of a Maine-fan. Don’t get me wrong, i’m a fan of Alden too, but the kilig that maine cud make me feel as a fan is too far from Alden’s. She’s just too real. And it’s hard to find someone like her in the industry now. She’s like a breath of fresh air. I can’t even find the right words… All I know is that she broke all the rules of the biz — she took a shortcut to stardom! I understand Alden tho… It’s probably the pressure that is being put on him as an actor and as Aldub’s other half. It’s like everybody’s expecting him to have feelings for Maine already. I don’t think that wud help him at all. Having lots of guy friends, they wanna do things their way. They don’t want any outside pressure from friends, family, or in Alden’s case, fans. It’s hard to distinguish real feelings when all eyes are on you. It’s better if we just watch, and let it come naturally from Alden. Diba minsan, kahit tayo, pag nasisimulan na nating magustuhan at makilala ung isang tao, tapos biglang may mga kaibigan tayo na manunukso, mamimilit, manunulak, parang nakakawalang gana? Naiirita na tayo, nawawala ung sariling diskarte. The feelings that shudav grown already, nababawasan pa. Do you get me? I just hope that Maine won’t lose the side of her that we love — her realness. I hope she wont get affected with what other people say or throw at her, not even when sometimes it seems like she’s giving more than what Alden does (when it comes to real emotions since Alden is a great actor). Again, please dont get me wrong… I love Alden too and it looks like he was raised very well by his parents.. Okay now i’m just rambling. I just wanna share that I don’t really watch local television, I find teleseryes corny and shallow as hell. Nothing special. But when I found out that Maine (who I was already admiring even before EB, i never missed a single episode. (I watch it from EB’s page tho, or in youtube cos I gotta work 8-hours a day!) I’m a senior software engineer with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and I’m proud to be #ASALKALYE too!"

First of all, brilliant entry Vilo! I’ve never been good at understanding or reading body language and cues, so your thoughts and insights help frame what I guess most are feeling: that there is much more to the series than what meets the eyes of viewers. It would be easy to just think it’s all kilig and that but as someone commented, the serye has become a reality show, and it’s become difficult (and enjoyable) to discern fact from fiction. Second, I do hope people would hold their reservations on Alden. He really is at a predicament here. You’ve got millions of people rooting for you to end up with someone you haven’t even met personally but solely on the basis of on-screen chemistry. The pressure must be crazy. Here he is, with the popularity he (and her mother) could only dream of, and he’s faced with viewer pressure to try and please everyone. If I were his age, I’d go nuts. I think he’ll have it tougher because all his actions, in contrast to Maine, will always be framed within the context of him being an actor. However, I would be more of an optimist and believe he’s a genuinely kind person whose world has taken a huge 360 turn as much as Maine’s life did, and that Alden is grateful for it. Senor Pedro pointed out something interesting, how Alden’s mother and Maine are perhaps the only two women to play such a pivotal role on his life: his pursuit of a showbiz career is in honor of his mother’s legacy; and now he’s unimaginable popularity (and fulfilment of his mother’s dream) brought about by Maine. He must be drawing parallels in his head right now. Third, I think both Alden and Maine seem to be very sensible people. I hope, as someone also suggested earlier, they don’t succumb to the pressure of their fame and try to even “force” the attraction regardless of their electrifying chemistry. That to me, will be the true test of their sincerity. It’s funny how I actually find Alden to have loosened up over the last few weeks since their first meeting. Maybe the chemistry is seeping in? I am continuously impressed by Maine. I am impressed by how she’s held up to the constraints and pressures of the show and remained level-headed in both reel and real life disappointments. As I said, the worst that could happen is Maine ending up faring better than Alden in terms of public perception, since she has no “showbiz” background for comparison. Lastly, I’m absolutely encouraged by how discerning the viewers are. We have a very healthy discussion here of our thoughts and insights about the show, and it’s a big middle finger to critics who assume all of it is frivolous. --- I'd like to add, that I hope we remember how overwhelming this whole phenomenon must be for both Maine and Alden, and that perhaps we may be asking too much from them. Within that context, we can probably understand better their situation. Like you maidensynchronity I never really paid attention to local love teams. I mean I get to watch shows or follow celebrities, but to actually be caught up in it is new for me. I only get to watch the Saturday episodes live, the rest I have to watch via YouTube. Didn't bother watching it until saw the first and second meeting of the pair and got hooked because at the time, it was so obvious the "kilig" was real.

This is what I posted on Vilo's blog.
I may be in the minority with my opinion here, but I actually prefer Alden’s pa-safe answers and being too direct about stating his feelings. Having a serious and conservative disposition, it could entirely be that he does feel an attraction but would prefer to actually have a chance to know Maine first, and let that attraction grow into anything serious. Also, if he realizes that Maine also comes from a conservative background with very strict parents, he might also want to do a more formal “ligaw” but the present restrictions their situation as Aldub who aren’t supposed to contact each other, talk in private, or even be closer to each other than 15 feet do not allow this to occur. How many times has he stated that he wants to get to know her already? His disappointment during Jessica Soho’s interview was so palpable. He honestly believed that last Saturday was the “tamang panahon”. I actually so fear for Alden because I think that when he falls in love, it will be hard and true. Maine is such a joy and is so bubbly and happy but she is so young. What she may have right now is just a crush and what if she realizes that is all it is after the “tamang panahon”? Haaay. Although I do have experience being in a fandom, this is my first time to ship a pairing, local or otherwise. It’s so agonizing, these ups and downs we feel and it is a reflection of what wee see in these two. Kakakilig and kakainis at the same time. Hi. I'm also sharing these series of videos below supposedly confirming Alden's love for Maine. There are a few instances used in the video that I think was a stretch. But seriously, those interviews of Alden prior to the whole Kalye Serye cannot be coincidental, right? Especially that Ryzza Mae Show interview?

clap.clap.clap! PROUD ALDUB FAN HERE… i’m happy reading this blog plus the comments. this one’s a proof of how ALDUB NATION is INTELLECTUAL, CREATIVE, VIGILANT AND SENSITIVE. i am also on the same direction vividly watching on Alden’s gestures and responses, CURIOSITY i might say! but like the others have been pointing out let’s enjoy the show. both of them are still young. sabi nga ni lola mahirap ang hinog sa pilit—siguro mas okay na mag enjoy tayo—watch them grow…mas masarap yung feeling. and one more thing ALDEN IS A MAN WITH GOOD MORALE, let’s just trust on him on being a gentleman. and i think lovelife is sacred and private to him. so let’s just respect it also… AND FOR MAINE…I LOVE THIS GURL A LOT…i admire her, and if you also noticed NADADALA nya si ALDEN, ang daming scenes na napasin ko yun 1.when they are dubsmashing with dance pag nakita nyang bigay todo si Maine ganun din response nya 2. nung date nila. napansin nyo ba yung pagkain nya ng isaw? pero nung nakita nya si maine na barubal kumain ginaya nya din DAMI PANG IBA ITO LANG YUNG MGA NAAALALA KO,HEHEHEH! ANYWAY I’M PROUD TO BE A PART OF THIS FANDOM…SPREAD GOOD VIBES GUYS! LET’S JUST PRAY FOR THEM…STALKER NILA AKO, I ALSO FELT DISAPPOINTMENTS WHEN I SEE PAST VIDEOS OF ALDEN NA MINSAN TALAGANG AFFECTED AKO NA INIIYAK KO PA YAN. BUT I CAN ONLY WISH AND PRAY FOR THEM JUST THINK POSITIVE. SABI NGA THERE IS ALWAYS A REASON FOR EVERYTHING. THE QUESTION IS: AFTER 5 YEARS (FROM THAT CANDY FAIR), WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THE REASON—WHY THEY MEET NOW? NOT AS STRANGERS AND A FAN,IDOL THING…THAT IS I THINK NEEDS AN ANSWER…AGREE?!? ALDUB YOU ALL

Hi. I know all of you have watched this week's past episodes. At marami taung napapansin pagbabago sa reaction ng dalawa. I, myself, have also read Mr. Vilo's blog and it made me think that not all we see is for real. Yes, affected anv Lolay kasi I'm betting this reel to be real. Pero ung Sep.22 & 23 ep shows na TNT na to. M has learned to guard herself based sa mga simple responses niya sa FS ni A, pati reactions, plain lang. It can be seen in her eyes. Si A naman, all out. Ung mga banat at how initiate the FS. (May nagsabi sa akin, professional actor siya kaya he can handle his acts out there.) Yes, A can already make his move but I think his not only thinking of his career pero pati M's. Tas iba na mabiruan ung mga hosts from both sides and obvious ang JoWaPao sa pagiging protective kay M. Ung sa side A, todo support sila, for real. Siguro nasasabi ko to becoz I don't want to take sides. Both are good persons. Kahit pa nanaig pagiging girl ko after reading Mr. Vilo's blog, we can't just judge Alden, tama?. Thanks.

I am actually impressed at how poised he has remained, and how humble he continues to be. Actually this week, napapansin ko na may pagka TNT na talaga. Si Maine, madali lang maahuli pag yung ngiti niya is as Maine or as Yaya Dub. Pag as Maine, di niya mapigilin. Haha
